Scientists Weigh-In on Environment for Earth Day

As the United States celebrates the 41st annual Earth Day today, there are a number of concerns—and things we can do—to reduce our use of energy, maintain cleaner, healthier communities and make our planet a better place to live.

Earth_Day_PhotoFor the occasion, the Virginian-Pilot interviewed a number of local scientists on what they felt were the most critical issues affecting the planet and, particularly, our area, and what issues they thought were probably of less concern. While there was no real consensus among those interviewed, some of their answers were surprising and provide everyone with insight into how each of us can do our part to help ensure a cleaner, greener planet for future generations to enjoy.
