aboutSENCON is a close-working, highly dedicated team of environmental, information technology and construction experts dedicated to helping Hampton Roads’ homeowners and commercial development professionals build a greener, more sustainable future.

The company is a subsidiary of Virginia Beach-based Applied Sciences & Information Systems, Inc., (ASIS) a successful minority-owned environmental information technology firm that delivers services to the government and private industry in the areas of IT, environmental management and geographic information systems. It was through this company’s involvement in environmental engineering and information in the public arena that ASIS President and CEO Aneil Kumar recognized a need to deliver the same level of services to the private sector. To him, helping homeowners and developers create more energy efficient, better performing homes and buildings in which to live and work was a natural extension of his company’s interest in creating a more environmentally friendly world through the wise-use of modern technology.

In 2007, Kumar’s dream was realized with the creation of SENCON, a company dedicated to fostering knowledge and growth of environmental sustainability practices throughout southeastern Virginia and even into northeastern North Carolina.

In just a few short years, SENCON has established itself as the area’s leader in providing sustainability services for the light commercial, multi-family and residential markets, making practical environmental stewardship available to every business and residence in the region. Today, SENCON remains the only company in Hampton Roads to combine complete home performance, training and green certification services under a single roof.

To better fulfill its mission, SENCON goes beyond the typical menu of services other companies offer and has taken a new approach to business by partnering with both national and regional organizations such as the Green Jobs Alliance, the Green Economic Alliance, Hampton Roads Green Drinks, the Tidewater Builders Association, the Building Performance Institute, the U.S. Green Building Council, Earthcraft, Energy Star and others. We also work closely with our elected officials and local community colleges to craft legislation and deliver training that will bring jobs to the area, help local workers prepare for those jobs and offer money-saving incentives and tax breaks for businesses and homeowners.
